About Me

Fatma Lotfy is a renowned Banking and Investment Expert, with more than 30 years of commercial and investment banking experience She is currently Non-Executive Chairperson of EFG Finance and Chairperson of EFG Hermes Factoring. She is also a Board Member of Acumen Holding. She began her career in the late 1980s and since then she has held senior and key executive positions in a number of renowned international and local banks and sits on the boards of several large-scale financial institutions. Lotfy started her banking journey at Chase National Bank, Egypt (currently Commercial International Bank), where she spent 20 successful years, during which she acquired multi experiences in different key areas of banking business. She was in charge of Corporate Banking, International Department, Treasury, and Investment Banking. In 1997, Lotfy joined Egyptian American Bank, an affiliate of American Express, as Senior General Manager in charge of all the Bank’s business activities and network. In 2000, she was recruited to manage Alwatany Bank of Egypt (AWB) (currently NBK Egypt) as a Managing Director and Executive Board and Committee Member. She carried out the complete restructure in AWB. In 2002, Lotfy was appointed as a Deputy Chairman of Bank of Alexandria, which owned at that time 200 branches, with a mandate for the restructuring and privatization of the bank. After the successful acquisition by Intesa San Paolo, she was nominated as First Deputy Chairman and Managing Director in 2007 mandated by the international foreign division of Intesa San Paolo. In addition, Lotfy joined Bank Audi Egypt in April 2011 as the Deputy Chairperson and Managing Director, then moved to EFG Hermes in 2016. Moreover, Lotfy is highly engaged in her role as an active corporate citizen through her activities as a Member of the Egyptian European Council, the Young Presidents Organization (YPO), the Egyptian British Chamber of Commerce, the American Chamber of Commerce. She is also an active Member of the Economic Committee of the Women’s National Congress. Lotfy holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Faculty of Commerce at Cairo University. She is also a Graduate Diploma in Finance from the American University of Washington. She had been awarded the GTM/Credit Suisse Best Female CEO Award Egypt.
