Yasmina El Hosseiny

Strategic Planning Director – EBank

Yasmina has over 20 years’ experience in finance since 1998. she worked in five different financial institutions namely Arab Bank, Blom Bank, Barclays Bank , Attijariwafa bank and recently  joined Export Development Bank – EBE. She has diversified experience in the finance industry out of which five years  in Retail Banking  and twelve years in Corporate Banking. Yasmina covered various sectors starting from SMEs, Local Large Corporate, Public Sector and Multinational Corporates while gaining the expertise in different industries in the meantime . Since 2019, I was appointed as Strategic Planning Director at EBE.

Yasmina completed her Bachelor Degree with specialization in Economics and Business Administration from the American University in Cairo and graduated with Honors in 1997. in 2013, she completed her MBA degree from Edinburgh Business School ,Heriot-Watt University, UK.

Attended distinguished leadership courses such as I Lead (Barclays in-house course) in 2013 followed by Future Leaders at EBI in 2017 .

Walaa Mostafa El-Houtimy

CFO – Sanofi Egypt / Sudan and Eretria

Bringing more than 19 years of professional experience to Sanofi Group, Dr. Walaa is the current group CFO for Egypt and Sudan.  She joined the group back in year 2000, where she held various local, regional, and international positions throughout her career, all of which provided unique development opportunities across a range of commercial operation and industrial affairs business models within the Pharmaceutical Industry.

Dr. Walaa is responsible for Sanofi Group financial excellence across Egypt, Sudan, and Eritrea. Currently, she is supervising a work plan worth EGP 5 billion.  Prior to joining Sanofi Group, Dr. Walaa worked for Aventis Pharma Group and the National Societe Generale Bank.

Dr. Walaa obtained a bachelor’s of commerce degree in accounting from Cairo University in 1999.

Walaa Emam

Director of Events IHG – The Intercontinental Hotel, Cairo City Stars

Prior to joining the Intercontinental Hotel, Wala was the director of catering and conferences services at The Nile Ritz Carlton Hotel. She has been able to demonstrate her passion and dedication during her 21 years of work, during which she has gained extensive international experience in the field of hospitality sales and events management.

Also, Walaa worked at the Sheraton Heliopolis and Le Royal Meridien – Nile Tower, from September 2007 until March 2015. Before that she held the position of Assistant Director of Events Organizing at InterContinental Citystars Hotel.

Walaa is focused on delivering excellence, exceptional and positive experience for customers at every stage of event preparations. She obtained a BA and MA in Public Relations and Advertising from the Faculty of Mass communication at Cairo University.

Soha Ali

Executive Director – Head of Treasury Services for Financial Institutions Group for Egypt & North Africa Region – JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A.

Previously, Soha worked as the head of correspondent banking at American Express Bank subsidiary in Egypt (formerly Egyptian American Bank). She left in early 2006 to join Deutsche Bank AG to run cash management across Egypt, North Africa & Levant. After that, Soha assumed responsibility as head of the treasury services business for North Africa at BNYM Cairo.

Soha joined J.P. Morgan in Egypt as a Senior Country Head in 2010; which was the first leadership position to oversee J.P. Morgan’s business across Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. Since she joined the firm over nine years ago, Soha managed to grow the overall bank-wide revenues from the region more than five times. She has played a crucial role in supporting the firm’s teams in the Middle East region to be awarded key transactions and has fostered very important relationships across Egypt and North Africa. In addition, she is the officially registered representative with the local Regulator in Egypt providing full governance and accountability on behalf of the firm in Egypt.

Soha is responsible for managing key relationships across financial institutions, government entities, and corporations, and is directly involved in developing the business strategy, identifying key opportunities and target names and leading the regional sales and client service teams in the region.

Soha’s banking experience spans to around 22 years and brings deep knowledge and expertise across the North Africa region. Managing one of the most complex and highly dynamic countries and economies that have gone through multiple challenges times and circumstances during which, Soha has lead the business safely, and continued to demonstrate a great leadership skills in managing and growing the business successfully.

Soha has graduated from Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration – Foreign Trade Division, Helwan University in May 1996.

Soha is an Arabic language native and is also fluent in English, French and Spanish. She also has a good understanding of the German language.

Soha has great interests in sports, and participates actively in social & charity activities with Rotary Clubs in Egypt.

Sherine Arafa

Chairman of Egyptian tailoring company – Arafa Group

Sherine Ahmed Arafa is a member of the Board of Directors of Arafa Holding, and Chairman of Egypt Tailoring Company, one of the group companies.

Sherine is the chairs Arafa Charity Hospital in the village of Shibeen El-Kom, in the Egyptian governorate of Menoufiya.

Sherine Arafa obtained a BSC in Commerce, major Accounting. She is the daughter of the late Ahmed Arafa, founder of Arafa Holding.

 

Sarah El Battouty

Chairman of Econsult & Sustainable Development & Environmental policy specialist

Appointed in Jun 2022, Global Ambassador in the UN Climate Change’s race to Zero and Race to Resilience.

Sarah El Battouty is an award winning architect with 18 years’ experience in the field of Green and Environmental Buildings. Sarah if the founder of one of Egypt’s unique Environmental Design, training and strategy and auditing company ECOnsult who have achieved the highest number of energy saving certified projects in Egypt by an Egyptian consultant. Her design work spans from Egypt to Italy and China focusing on partnering with the private sector and government on implementing green projects. She is also an entrepreneur and founder of Egypt’s scrap waste to luxury concept brand which makes high-end sustainable furniture from scrap waste materials, MuBun Sustainable Furniture.

In 2014 Sarah was appointed as a senior Advisor to the Egyptian President focusing on sustainable community development. She has worked on several projects with the presidency adopted by government including introducing energy and water saving awareness programs into the media and education system as well the creation of a youth leadership program to empower youths to participate in the political process. Her focus has been Egypt’s environmental policy which culminated in the successful ratification of Egypt signing the Paris Climate Agreement and embarking on a nationwide program for energy saving as well as water scarcity awareness. Sarah represents Egypt as an official in a variety of lectures and summits focusing on climate, housing and national security. She is now working to make environmental awareness and resource and natural heritage preservation entre the Egyptian curriculum with the Ministry of Education which she sees as a cause and passion.

She has featured in numerous magazines and talk in Global initiatives, the British and American Embassy in Cairo, Bloomberg Business for Good, Global Compact and various universities and Think Tank committees and has been awarded by the Arab League for her achievements in Green Buildings.

Her focus is to raise awareness on resource management and environmental economics to create sustainable communities for Egypt’s growing population as well as regional climate challenges linking them to education and magnifying the interlinkages. Sarah has also been recognised as a national expert and leader in 2018 for her service to this field by the government for training the intelligence and military as well as assisting in training programs for government on the Sustainable Development Goals.  As a women, Sarah is the only woman to have worked in remote regions on construction sites as well as be one of a handful of women founders of company in technology. She works with local labour to exchange knowledge and promote inclusiveness in every project. In 2015 he company decided to have equal pay for both men and women as well as having 50% of her company run by women and 100% women lead Board. Sarah is a strong believer of leadership for woman for better societies, however she always promotes letting the work speak for itself.

Sally Abbas

Associate Director, Head of Corporate Governance unit – The American University in Cairo, School of Business

Sally Abbas is currently an Associate Director, heading the Corporate Governance Unit at the Office of Strategic Alignment and Internationalization, School of Business, at The American University in Cairo. It promotes knowledge in the field of corporate governance in Egypt and the Arab world through developing and disseminating knowledge, capacity building, quality research, and advance the understanding and practices of corporate governance in a cross disciplinary environment including leading academics, business leaders, members of corporate boards, policy makers, practitioners, regulators, and students. Its main activities are Women on Boards Observatory, SMEs governance, SOEs governance and family business governance while building and maintaining constructive relationships with key internal and external contacts and

stakeholders, government entities and businesses.

Before joining AUC in 2010, she was the General Manager & Partner of the Egyptian Saudi

Company for Construction and Reconstruction (EGYSAD), a family business owned company. Prior to EGYSAD, she worked as a Business consultant. Furthermore, she worked in investment banking.

She served as a Manager in Marketing and Credit in the Egyptian American Bank.

She has experience in the areas of Finance, Strategic planning, management, business consultancy and higher education.

She holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Management and a Bachler of Art degree majoring in Business Administration and minoring in computer science from The American University in Cairo.

She is both a certified director and a certified corporate governance trainer for SMEs by IFC.

She is a member of VP International Club for Social Activities.

Safaa El Nagar

Procurement Senior Director  – Telecom Egypt

Engineer Safaa is the Procurement Senior Director at Telecom Egypt. She joined Telecom Egypt in 1995 as a network implementation engineer, responsible for the implementation of the terrestrial networks and the technical support needed to provide telecommunications services delivered to the company’s clients.

In 2002, she assumed the position of Head of Technical Support Values. In 2003, she became Director of Follow-up and Technical Support, and in 2007, she was promoted to be the General Manager of Follow-up and Technical Support headed by the sectors of Alexandria. Afterwards, she was assigned to be the Director of Procurement in 2009, and afterwards she moved to be Head of the Warehouse and Procurement sector from 2012 until 2017.

She obtained an MBA from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in 2018, and, in 2005, she obtained a diploma in Marketing from Ain Shams University. She also holds another diploma in Educational Sciences in 1994. Eng. Safaa holds a Bachelor of Engineering in the Department of Communications and Electronics from Ain Shams University in 1991.

Reham Farouk

CEO Al Tadamon Microfinance Foundation

Reham Farouk is a Professional International Development Practitioner and Microfinance Expert with 20 years of international experience as a Financial and Management international advisor in the domain of Small and Microfinance; building the institutional capacity of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Egypt and the Middle East.

She graduated with high honors in 1997 from the American University in Cairo, AUC, majoring in Business Administration with emphasizes on Marketing, Management Information Systems (MIS), Economics and Accounting. She started her career as a Local Counterpart Consultant for Technopolis – UK. She then held the position of Financial Manager for the Private Sector Development Program, PSDP, an EU-funded project in Egypt. In the year 2000, she obtained her Master’s Degree of Business in Administration (MBA) from AUC. During the same year, she joined Save the Children – USA-Egypt Field Office as Project Officer.

Farouk has significant experience working in the provision of training to management and staff, and the development of a conducive legislative and informative infrastructure for Microfinance and Small Enterprise sector in the region.

Since 2003, she became a certified trainer and resource person by Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD) – England in providing numerous training courses including Product Development, Delinquency Management and Interest Rate Setting, Making Microfinance Work, and Operational Risk Management at Sanabel, the Microfinance Network of the Arab Countries.

Farouk is an experienced technical assistance provider in organizational/diagnostic assessments of local and regional NGOs interested in engaging in microfinance activities; and providing advice on sustainability and commercial approaches to international agencies, the design and enhancement of microfinance products; and the monitoring and evaluation of microfinance programs. In addition, she has broad experience in creating an enabling environment for microfinance, including policy analysis and implementation.

Since 2000 until present, she has been working as Chief Executive Officer of Al Tadamun Microfinance Foundation. And recently she was appointed on the Board of Trustees of Sanabel the Microfinance Network of Arab Countries as Vice President.

Farouk truly believes that she has been privileged to work at Al Tadamun and to see the continuous growth of the foundation throughout the years. With a lot of determination and persistence, she set a long term vision for the transformation of a pilot project that was once funded by Save the Children USA into an Egyptian independent self-sustaining entity that is integrated into Egypt’s financial sector. This was carried out in two phases; first into an independent program under the legal umbrella of Women’s Health Improvement Association, WHIA in July 2003, and then into Al Tadamun Microfinance Foundation, registered under the Egyptian laws as a non-governmental organization in March 2009.

Al Tadamun now has more than 1,500 full time employees compared to seven employees back in 2000, operating through 68 branches located in 11 different governorates in Egypt. Throughout the years the foundation has financed more than one million female owned projects. Currently, Al Tadamun has 185 thousand active clients and a working capital of more than 600 million Egyptian pounds. Al Tadamun’s mission is to increase the income of women micro-entrepreneurs in the various governorates in Egypt to improve their quality of life through providing access to sustainable and diversified financial services that suit their needs.

Finally, Farouk has always felt blessed earning her living by empowering female micro- entrepreneurs earning theirs with pride and dignity.

Reem Elsaady

Regional Manager, SME Finance & Development Team – Egypt

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development “EBRD”

Reem El Saady joined EBRD in May 2012 and is currently the  Regional Principle Manager for the SMEs Finance and Development (Advisory ) Program for Egypt and the Levant.  The program supports small business with special focus on women and Youth.

Prior to  joining EBRD she worked as an advisor to the  Minister of Investment and had during her work at the Ministry established both “Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and SMEs Development” as well as “Bedaya Fund for SMEs Development” – one of the first on-shore private equity funds dedicated for financing SMEs and innovative start-ups

During the period from 2010 to  March 2012, she was the board member and CEO of Bedaya Private Equity Fund for SMEs financing.

El Saady was also an appointed member in the Technical Committee established by HE the Minister of Trade and Industry in 2017 to design the organizational structure for the new National SMEs Development Agency.

Reem El Saady was during the period from 1996 to 2009 the Lead Program Coordinator of the Egyptian Swiss Development Fund – a special fund dedicated to support the socio- economic development of underserved communities and the empowerment of women.

 She holds a BA and MA in economics from the American University in Cairo and she is a PHD candidate at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science writing her thesis on the Egyptian SMEs in an Era of Reforms.
