Dina Sherif

CEO & Founding Partner of Ahead of the Curve

Dina Sherif is committed to building sustainable societies through the application of a more conscious form of capitalism and she founded Ahead of the Curve (ATC) in 2012 to further that goal. ATC is a social enterprise promoting responsible and sustainable management practices, more inclusive and equitable economies, and the development of socially-innovative business models in growth markets to support both economic growth and social change.
As CEO, Sherif is responsible for business strategy and business development, as well as overseeing all research related activities within the firm. Ahead of the Curve, established the first impact investment fund in the MENA region called Entrepreneurship with Impact Ventures to support early stage impact entrepreneurs through equity financing and will be launching the first of its kind regional network of women leaders across the Arab region through an online and offline platform.

Sherif also serves as an Advisor to the President of Egypt for Economic Development and Job Creation. In addition, she is currently an Associate Professor of Practice, holding the endowed Willard Brown Chair for International Business at the American University in Cairo, where she is also Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship.
She comes from a background in Economic Development, Strategic Philanthropy and Civil Society Development.
Sherif is the lead author of several key publications such as the book: From Charity to Social Change: Trends in Arab Philanthropy and key reports, including a 7 country study on trends in responsible business practice in the Arab region and the 2015 UNDP Business Solutions Report.
Her current passion lies in using entrepreneurship as a pathway to sustainable economic growth and job creation. Her company established the first fund to support idea and early stage startups, solving major problems in society in the Arab region and will be establishing the first of its kind accelerator in the Arab world to support startups that merge technology with the resolution of a major societal challenge in collaboration with the Egyptian private sector.
In acknowledgement of her dedication to creating a new way of doing business through her efforts with Ahead of the Curve, Sherif was given the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Egypt, by the American Chamber of Commerce in 2016. She was also recognized by the Embassy of India as a Woman of Substance in 2016, and was chosen as one of 10 United Nations Global Compact Sustainable Development Goal Pioneers.
Sherif is also an angel investor with a specific focus on healthcare businesses and is an avid supporter of civil society, previously serving of the Chair of the Board of the Arab Foundations Forum and currently a Board Member of EducateMe and Ruwwad both based in Egypt.
Furthermore, Sheirf is also a Board Member of two early stage fast growth businesses: Smart Medical Services and Tawseela Transportation Solutions both based in Egypt. Currently, she is most passionate about creating an Arab region that will not only provide the jobs necessary for its youth, but the jobs necessary to allow for the region’s youth to thrive.

Founder & CEO of Injaz Egypt

Dina El-Mofty is the founder of Injaz Egypt, an organization which has a strong educational focus on entrepreneurship as well as work readiness and is part of the Junior Achievement worldwide network.
Injaz works in partnership with schools and universities across Egypt, and has helped impact more than half a million young people through its entrepreneurial and work readiness programs. The organization also has a strong focus on supporting young entrepreneurs through its startup incubator and helps them launch and accelerate their businesses.
She has started Injaz Egypt project in 2003, to become an independent institution under the Ministry of Social Solidarity in 2004. Injaz has seed funded and supported over 50 successful startup businesses over the past five years.

El-Mofty has recently founded Inspo, a company focused on delivering leading global programs on personal and professional development in Egypt and the Middle East. She is also actively involved with the American Chamber of Commerce as the Co-Chair of the Women in Business Committee, and is a Member of the U.S.-Egypt Business Council.
Nominated as one of the world’s most influential young Arabs under 40 by Arabian Business for 2016, El-Mofty holds a graduate degree from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a bachelor’s degree from the American University in Cairo. Additionally, she spent time at Georgetown University during her undergraduate studies. She also holds professional degrees from Penn State University, INSEAD, and Harvard University.

Dalia Khorshid

Chairwoman and CEO of MASAR

Dalia Khorshid was the first female Minister of Investment serving between 2016 and 2017. She is currently Chairwoman and CEO of MASAR, a private-sector financial advisory firm founded in 2018 to provide financial services to the Egyptian and regional markets.
As a minister, Khorshid established three new free trade zones. She has over 24 years of finance experience in various fields: Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Corporate Treasury and Private Equity.
Khorshid worked in Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) from 2005 to 2016, most recently Group Corporate Treasurer.

She began her career at the Commercial International Bank (CIB), followed by eight years as Vice President of Citibank prior to joining OCI.
Dalia Khorshid earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from The American University in Cairo in 1993.

Deputy Chairperson of the National Bank of Egypt (NBE)

Dalia El Baz has been appointed as the Deputy Chairperson of the National Bank of Egypt (NBE), one of the biggest state-run banks in Egypt, in September 2017. She is the first Egyptian women ever to serve this position.
El Baz started her banking career in 1995 in Barclays Bank Egypt in the Corporate Banking and then assigned as the Head the Operational Risk sector, set up the Internal Control division of the bank.
In 2008, she joined the NBE, where she was assigned to head the bank’s Risk Group, then she was appointed as Executive Director for Operations in 2015.

El Baz joined the NBE in December 2008 as part of the team that contributed to the development of the bank’s business by activating the role of the Operational Risk Group, spreading the culture of its business and establishing the business continuity plans and sites. In 2015, she was appointed as Executive Director for Operations in 2015. She supervised the deployment of the new core banking system in addition to the upgrade and centralization of the banking operations adopted by the NBE within the framework of an integrated strategy for the information technology of the bank and obtaining multiple certificates to protect the data of its customers.
El Baz graduated from the American University in Cairo in 1995 Major of Business Administration and minor of Economics and participated in several specialized training courses in banking, management and the development and follow-up of strategies.

Asmaa Hosny

Asmaa Hosny

Asmaa Hosny was the CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), an executive IT arm of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, founded in 2004, to spearhead the process of developing the Egyptian IT industry.
She has over 30 years of executive experience in Information Technology. Hosny has accomplished huge breakthroughs in the execution of large-scale projects leading to technology-enabled transformation of many socio–economic sectors, from which are the creation and development of new technological zones in Borg El Arab and Asyut.

She started her career at Orascom Group, where she led only in few years one of the company’s majoracquisitions in the health sector. In addition, she co-founded and established a number of successful local and regional enterprises, including Wasla Egypt and Solutions Plus in Egypt as well as Health Insights in the United Arab Emirates.
Hosny earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from Cairo University in 1980. She also received several advanced academic degrees in the ICT fields, in addition to graduate studies at Cairo University’s Institute of Statistical Studies and Research (ISSR) in 1983.
